The Gay Pride movement rejects homophobia in all its forms and asserts pride in being homosexual, bisexual or transsexual. The movement arose in the United States and enjoys considerable success.
Every year, Gay Pride brings people together in several cities around the world for fun and colourful parades highlighting gay rights.
The pride parade is entirely organised by volunteers and makes for an impressive demonstration in Vienna and other European cities.
It's the occasion for gay bars and night clubs, radio stations and other associations to reach a wider public.
