Burgtheater

An institution.
The Burgtheater (the former imperial court theatre), one of the most important theatres in Europe. Indeed it is the second-oldest theatre still in existence after the Comédie Francaise in Paris. Its German-language programme includes a wide variety of theatre: classic and contemporary plays, as well as experimental theatre and readings.
The theatre can boast of having seen the work of many fine directors, with some 800 annual performances of big names such as Karin Beier, Luc Bondy, Andrea Breth, Dieter Giesing, Klaus Michael Gruber, Martin Kusej, Thomas Langhoff, and Peter Zadek.
